Moodboard & Bio
I’m Katie Lyn, a gothic fantasy romance author and American expat in Mexico, drafting my debut while juggling family, coffee, and chaos. Expect broody Byronic heroes, anxious girls with backbone, and books where the past hurts but doesn’t get the final say.
Darkfire of Caerwynfael
Elowyn learned at an early age that men are not safe. Trained in the healing halls of Erynborne and now tending the wounds of the Darkfire Brotherhood, she can mend broken flesh, but her own fear is harder to soothe. Her gift is steady. It is her voice that trembles. Years of walking on eggshells have taught her to stay small and quiet, yet some hidden part of her aches to be more than a shadow at the edge of other people’s choices.
Draitheon is a dangerous warrior, born with Darkfire, a soul-eating flame feared even among his own kind. He has seen his power destroy what he loves, and would rather break his own heart than risk hers. He cannot stop wanting her, so he pursues Elowyn in quiet, careful ways, then pulls back, leaving her hurt and confused. And when she finally needs his help most, he turns away, hiding behind duty and fear.
When a tyrant king tightens his grip on the ancient realm of Caerwynfael, Elowyn and Draitheon are drawn into a rising storm of war and dark magic. To save the people they love, Elowyn must find her voice and claim the strength to play her own part in the fight, while Draitheon must become the protector who chooses her openly and is willing to pay the price for their realm. If they cannot turn fear into courage and curse into strength, the darkness devouring the kingdom will take their hearts first, and then everything else.

Age & Audience
Darkfire of Caerwynfael is written for adults, with adult level stakes and themes, but with mild language and non-graphic romance. I would not be upset if my own teens read it, but it is not YA.

About Katie Lyn Easter
Katie Lyn is a lifelong reader who spent much of her childhood happily hidden among library shelves, wandering through stories of every kind she could find. A proud member of Gen X, she writes fantasy romance with a particular love for slow-burn tension, haunted loyalties, and characters who feel far too real for their own good. Though she holds a business degree from the University of Washington, her imagination stubbornly refused to stay in practical territory. She remains an enthusiastic devotee of both fantasy and romance in all their forms, firmly believing that magic and matters of the heart make excellent narrative companions. She is an unapologetically devoted fan of The Lord of the Rings, a love that continues to shape her fondness for mythic worlds, quiet heroism, and emotionally devastating stakes. Originally from Seattle, Katie Lyn is a wife and mother of five, and she splits her time between the U.S. and Mexico. She shares her home with three deeply opinionated cats who provide companionship, distraction, and occasional editorial supervision. Her work leans atmospheric and gothic-tinged, where longing, danger, and impossible choices tend to coexist, and where love is never simple but always worth the trouble.
